Did you know UT offers a password management tool?
The Information Security Office created Stache to provide secure backup of sensitive data, such as encryption keys, passwords, passphrases, and personal identification numbers.
It’s a helpful place to keep track of your mainframe password if you are an infrequent user of *Define.
Stache is also a great way to share a secret with a co-worker. Add a new entry with a descriptive name. Next, write a clear purpose that helps you remember a little more about the entry. The secret can generate a password or passphrase if needed or you can put a pre-existing secret here. Use the Note field for additional information to help make the entry useful, such as a URL. Finally, add the EID of the co-worker that needs the password to the People section and set their access level.
You can learn more about, such as the various levels of access, in the application help, on the ISO’s Stache wiki page or here.
