Mark your calendars, dear friends. February 13 is fast approaching so read on to properly prepare for the the best day of the year. I’m talking about Galentine’s Day! Valentine’s Day may be about romance, but Galentine’s Day celebrates friendships. It may have started out as pure fiction on the TV show Parks and Recreation back in 2010, but ever since the Galentine’s Day episode first aired, ladies and other folks have embraced the concept.
So how will you celebrate this year? Here are a few ideas.
- Have a movie marathon with your friends. Waiting to Exhale, Clueless, Bring it On, and A League of Their Own would be great choices for Galentine’s Day. Pop some popcorn, open a bottle of wine and turn it into a grown-up slumber party!
- Go to lunch or brunch with your besties, Leslie Knope-style.
- Plan a Galentine’s Day goodie, book, clothing or secret gift-swap with your friends.
- Stay in and have a craft night, board game night or a book club night.
- Host a tea or a fancy dinner for your squad.
- Take a hike or go to a yoga class together.
- Attend a self-defense class as a group.
- Plan the best day ever for you and your bestie. Mine might be lunch, thrifting, hanging out at a bookstore, and going for a walk.
Whether you meet up for drinks or hang out at home in your pajamas playing board games, it is a good time to re-connect and maybe even forge deeper bonds with those closest to you. On February 13, celebrate your friendships on the very best day of the year.
