Many of you may know Marilyn Garcia as a valued member of the TRecs team. However, she started her career in 2008 at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley supporting office operations in the departments of Computer Science and Computer Engineering. Craving a change of scenery and new opportunity, Marilyn moved to Austin, Texas, and accepted an Administrative Assistant position with TRECS in 2018.
In January 2022, Marilyn’s duties expanded when she was reclassified to an Administrative Associate. Marilyn now also assists with office operations and inquiry triage for HRSS and BFS. We are thrilled to have Marilyn as a part of the FBS team!
When asked what she would like others to know about her, Marilyn said that she is an avid reader and audiobook listener. Her favorites include the Harry Potter series and writers Rainbow Rowell and Neil Gaiman (authors of Any Way the Wind Blows and Coraline, respectively). Marilyn also loves playing board games and spending time with her 6-month-old son, Jacob.
