Some of you may already know Ben Post, the new Director of Business and Financial Services. However, you may be surprised to learn about his personal side.

Ben went to college at Texas State University, where he received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree. Afterward, Ben attended the great University of Texas, where he received a Master’s of Business Administration degree, with a concentration in finance. Ben loved the University of Texas so much that, after teaching English in Japan for a year, he began making his career at the University in 2004. After working in multiple finance positions across campus for 16 years, Ben landed in the position of Director of BFS.

Ben is an animal lover. He will tell you that his dog, Harold, was found in a box as a puppy, after being lucky enough to survive being eaten by coyotes. Harold is a menace and often needs a stern talking to, but he is beloved all the same. Ben’s cat, Pearl, became part of the family after being found in the gutter. Ben worked for 6 months to coax Pearl out of the gutter, and another 6 months to coax Pearl inside the house. Ben considers himself to be a cat whisperer of sorts because cats just keep showing up at his door.

You may also have noticed that Ben is not your average guy. Not only can he rock a suit and tie, but he can rock out on the bass guitar too! Ben plays the bass guitar for three different bands, each of which plays a different style of music. The first band, The Union Jacks, play British pop and rock covers from the 1960’s to present. Ben’s second band, Wild Boys: The Duran Duran  Experience, play as a tribute band for Duran Duran. The Dallas-based band even tours the region to play concerts! Mass Minor is the name of the third band that Ben is part of, and they play completely original music. Music that can only be described as new wave / dance / synth. For this band, Ben not only plays bass guitar, but the synthesizer too. Mass Minor released their first digital album in August 2020, and have a vinyl record coming soon.

Thank you to Ben for allowing everyone to get to know him better!
